Fiona Maxwell is a wife, mother and professional musing over her first novel
Having read that Sarah is about to publish her new book A Fine Pursuit, I felt it was time to post a review of A Fine Profession.
I found a Fine Profession a very interesting book. Having deliberately not read Fifty Shades of Grey as I was told it was very badly written, I was curious to see how Sarah would tackle her erotic novel which she says is quite different form her earlier trilogy.
A Fine Profession is a proper story and Sarah explores her leading character in considerable depth. Some of the other characters are more shadowy, even Alex to an extent.
The book also explores men, people's relationships in the context of sex and exploitation, whether by men, women or by Lottie herself.
The sexual content is certainly there and hits the right note. It is also well written.
The book maintains an air of mystery with a twist at the end.
I look forward to A Fine Pursuit as I understand it will be Noah's story, it will be interesting to see how Sarah has crafted this.
