Slivers Of Life
This one isn’t a steamy romance or a knock-off version of Fifty Shades of anything. What author Shirley Harris-Slaughter is offering here is a window into the female perspective of listening to your own body. A self-help book that doesn’t come from a medical angle, this book is merely the author sharing her own experiences with that “certain age” women face and struggle with once in its throes.
Do your emotions ever get twisted to the point where you wonder after your own sanity? Have you come to a place in life where anxiety and panic attacks have become the norm? Do you find yourself getting overheated like a 1972 Dodge Dart with a bad radiator? Then this book is for you.
The author is a survivor. She lived through an abusive marriage, major health issues, and know-it-all doctors who often fall short of being helpful. Harris-Slaughter offers advice on diet, alternative routes to better health, as well as conventional means to better living. She tackles issues of stress that tend to overwhelm even the strongest of human beings.
While this is not the usual sort of book I’d read, I am glad I did. The author is honest and inspirational in her approach to sharing her personal experiences at what works for her. These experiences just may work for you, too. And you don’t have to be a woman to gain from Shirley’s advice.
